The prefecture is known as the "dinosaur kingdom" as 80 percent of dinosaur fossils discovered in Japan came from Fukui.

At the major train station, Fukui Station, there are now at least 5 ''living'' life-size dinosaurs welcoming tourists from all over Japan and foreigners. There used to be 3 moving dinosaur robots, but 2 new dinosaur robots, including a 12-meter-long T-Rex, have been set up around Fukui Station to welcome new passengers after the Hokuriku bullet train extended from Kanazawa to Fukui in March 2024.

Fukui is also famous for crab, and there you can find a dinosaur statue eating crab somewhere around Fukui Station. There are many more dinosaur statues around, so it's fun to walk around.
