A significant section of a railing on a bridge catastrophically collapsed in southern China.

The video was filmed in Fushun City in Jiangxi Province on April 16. A large portion of the white stone balustrade on one side of the Caizi Bridge toppling over, scattering debris across the ground.

The following morning, a staff member from the Linchuan District Transportation Bureau reported that the collapsed fence had been promptly dealt with and reinforced.

Regarding the cause of the collapse, the staff member suggested that the destruction was likely due to the formidable winds from the previous day, stating, "There was an 11-level strong wind, which might have been too powerful and caused the railing to collapse. The section that collapsed was about dozens of metres long."

Additionally, weather reports from the Jiangxi Meteorological Department revealed that on the morning of April 16th, the region around Dongxiang in Fuzhou experienced severe convective weather, including short-term heavy rainfall and thunderstorm gusts.

The highest wind speed was recorded at the Laohuzhao observation station in Xiping Village, reaching a record-breaking 80.3 mph during a thunderstorm, surpassing the previous local record of 67.1 mph.

The Caizi Bridge, completed and opened to traffic in February 2021, represents a substantial investment of 195 million yuan (£21,610,000). Spanning 540 metres in length and 28 metres in width, the bridge facilitates a dual carriageway with six lanes.

江西气象部门发布的信息显示，16日上午，江西抚州东乡出现短时强降水、雷暴大风等强对流天气。最大风速出现在西坪村老虎爪观测站，瞬时风速达12级雷雨大风35.9米/秒，打破当地最大阵风纪录30米/秒。
资料显示，临川才子大桥于2021年2月竣工通车，该大桥总投资1.95亿元，长540米，净宽28米，有双向六车道。
