On April 25, 2024, a sudden hailstorm stroke in Changshun County, Qiannan Buyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province.

Video shows the sky transitioning from gray-blue to black in the moment before the hailstorm struck.

The students dashed to safety, shielding their heads from the hails.

At 17:55 on April 25th, the Changshun County Meteorological Observatory issued an orange hail warning signal: It is expected that within the next 3 hours, hail weather will occur in towns such as Guangshun and Baiyunshan in our county, which may lead to hail disasters. Please take precautions.

According to local reports, from 7 a.m. on April 25th to 7 a.m. on April 26th, hails fell in 20 counties in Guizhou Province including Changshun, with the largest diameter reaching 40 millimeters in Xixiu District, Anshun.
