The LACoFD responded to a water main break that was flooding the backyard and a garage of a residence at 1333 Durfee Ave. in the city of South El Monte. Firefighters responded to the location but had to return to the station to get multiple sandbags to block the gate, preventing water from going into the residence's backyard driveway and garage. The call came out at 4:21 a.m. and the water company arrived at 5:20 a.m.. The resident declined to speak on camera but was very upset that it was taking one hour to shut off the water. Unknown at this time if there was any other damage to any other residents. The water company finally arrived on scene and attempted to locate the shut-off valve to stop the flow of water.
