In 1964, France became the first major Western nation to formalize diplomatic relations with China.
It is also the first major Western country to form a comprehensive strategic partnership with China.
Bilateral trade between China and France has grown 800-fold in the past 60 years, reaching 78.9 billion U.S. dollars last year. From 2019 to 2023, China's imports and exports with France grew by 5.9 percent annually.
China is now France's largest trading partner in Asia, while France ranks as China's third-largest trading partner and the third-largest source of investment in real terms within the European Union.
East Chinese city of Yiwu, a world's production hub for small commodities, buzzes with orders as the Paris Olympic Games draw near.
464 athletes will vie for more than 150 berths of the Paris 2024 events of breaking, sport climbing, BMX freestyle and skateboarding through the Olympic Qualifier Series in Shanghai on May 16-19 and Budapest on June 20-23.
