Hermit crabs invaded a resort to look for food in southern Thailand.

Footage shows the shelled animals crowding over cracked-opened coconuts at Modtanoy Resort's garden in Trang province.

The crustaceans were also spotted in other nearby locations, including a mangrove forest.

They were spotted in various locations, particularly in a mangrove forest near the community area and a coconut garden close to the resort.

During the day, they typically hide under rocks and stubbles, emerging to forage for broken coconuts or fruit at night.

Some even entered the kitchen area to steal food, and the resort owner said the sightings have become more frequent, attributed to the decreasing availability of food and empty shells in the Andaman Sea.
