A powerful storm blew market stalls onto a road in eastern Thailand.

Video shows the gales sweeping rubbish bins, leaves, and tattered tents onto the highway in Rayong province on May 7.

The winds also overturned a row of stalls while dark storm clouds loomed overhead.

The Thai Meteorological Department forecasted that eastern Thailand, including Rayong, would experience hot weather during the day, along with scattered thunderstorms with gusty winds and hail.

Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are at the start of their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms. The rudimentary infrastructure often struggles with the deluge, leading to widespread flash floods.
