Tourists cling on during bouncy speedboat ride on choppy seas in Thailand
Tourists held on for their lives during a bouncy speedboat ride on choppy seas in southern Thailand.
Footage shows the vessel battling through rough waves while holidaymakers wore orange life vests off the coast of Krabi on May 6.
Their tour guide stood on the edge of the boat when the storm started while they were on their way to Phi Phi Islands.
One of the tourists After Rutthakon said: 'It was a very brutal storm. We were lucky nothing bad happened.
'The boat driver said that was the first time he experienced that this year and his entire career.'
The incident came as the Thai Meteorological Department issued warnings about the summer storm.
The agency said southerly and southeasterly winds were prevailing across the north, northeast, east, and central regions of Thailand, causing possible thunderstorms and hail on May 6 and 7.
Locals were advised to avoid outdoor activities during the inclement weather.
Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are at the start of their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms. The rudimentary infrastructure often struggles with the deluge, leading to widespread flash floods.
