Peru: Petrol station explosion in Peru leaves one dead, 22 injured

An explosion ripped through a fuel service station in Lima, Peru on Monday, leaving one person dead and 22 injured.
Shocking images of the destruction caused by the explosion went viral on social media, showing buses with broken glass, debris scattered in nearby houses and even a large propane gas balloon embedded in a nearby home.

The damage extended to fast food outlets and shops in a nearby shopping centre, located on a main avenue in the Villa Maria del Triunfo district of the Peruvian capital.
The Peruvian health ministry's deputy minister of benefits, Ciro Mestas, confirmed the death of one person and the treatment of the 22 people injured by minor and moderate burns.

The Peruvian Health Minister, Cesar Vasquez, reported on his social networks that emergency protocols were activated and Emergency Medical Care Service (SAMU) units were sent to the area.
