Minister of Police Bheki Cele addresses the media after casting his ballot at Lamontville High School on May 28, 2024, regarding the state of election safety throughout the nation following his meeting with the provincial and national leadership of the South African Police Service (SAPS). Cele also discussed the deployment of the SANDF to protect elections both during and after the elections, as well as SAPS escorting ballot papers. Cele was reappointed as Minister of Police on May 30, 2019, having served in that capacity since February 27, 2018.
