Harvesters pursued a runaway ostrich fervently across wheat fields in eastern China.

Video filmed in Linquan County in Anhui Province on May 27, shows an ostrich sprinting through a field, drawing considerable attention as bystanders attempted to capture it.

One individual even pursued it on an electric scooter but was unable to keep pace.

According to Mr. Cai, an eyewitness, the ostrich suddenly appeared while they were working, prompting them to give chase out of excitement. After failing to apprehend it, they resumed their harvest.

Cai heard reports of others pursuing the ostrich to another village but still failing to capture it.

He speculated that the ostrich was likely domesticated and had somehow managed to escape.

（采访）拍摄者蔡先生：收完麦子放粮食的时候，那只鸵鸟突然出现在我们对面。应该是谁家养殖的吧，突然跑出来了。（我们）太忙了也没有问。我们几个人看了之后都挺激动的，然后就上去追。鸵鸟跑得很快，拦都拦不住。没有追上，就跑回来了。（这件事）对麦收也没什么影响，但是感觉大家农忙的时候，增添了点乐趣。
