SOUNDBITE (English): GORAN MARINOVIC, English teacher of Lu'an No. 2 High School
"Hello, my name is Goran. I come from Serbia. My hometown is Bohr in eastern Serbia. And here I'm in Lu'an, Anhui Province, where I teach English at No. 2 High School of Lu'an.

Before teaching in China, I was teaching English also in Serbia for 18 years. I came to China seven years ago, because I needed a new challenge. First, I went to Fujian Province. After that, the next year, I was in Xinjiang. And for the last five years, I'm here in Anhui Province.

Students at this school are very smart, and they are eager to learn, they want to learn something new every day, every class. So during the classes, I teach them something about other countries, other countries' customs. And they teach me about something that I don't know about China.

China and Serbia have traditionally good relationships, and even deeper after Serbia joined the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). In Serbia, there are many Chinese investments. An example is my hometown Bohr, where Chinese company Zijin bought the copper mine. Great change can be seen today. The Chinese company has invested a lot in the green environment. It allows people from my hometown to have a better life.

Even though the cooperation between the two countries, China and Serbia, is on a great level, I believe that in the future, it will be even better, especially in the part of cultural exchange between the two countries. Some of my future plans are to stay here in China and teach Chinese students English. And hopefully one day, my family can come here and live here, not just to visit me."
