In a dramatic rescue operation, the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City sprang into action to assist a stranded diver 75 miles offshore Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on June 1, 2024.

The 35-year-old male diver found himself adrift from his vessel while diving, prompting his boat crew to activate their emergency GPS beacon. This distress signal quickly alerted the Coast Guard District Seven watch standards, signaling an urgent need for assistance.

Responding swiftly to the call for help, a C-130 Hercules airplane crew from the Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City joined the rescue effort. Despite the challenging conditions and distance from shore, the dedicated crew worked tirelessly to locate and rescue the stranded diver.
