SANIBEL ISLAND, Fla. — A U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater aircrew medevaced a 77-year-old man experiencing stroke-like symptoms approximately 138 miles southwest of Sanibel Island on Sunday.

According to a Coast Guard statement, the aircrew responded swiftly and transported the man to Gulfcoast Medical Center for advanced medical care.

The Coast Guard continues to emphasize the importance of preparedness and communication when venturing offshore. The successful medevac highlights the service’s ongoing commitment to protecting lives at sea.
