China's Sichuan Airlines presented its new global route network at a promotional event on Monday in Istanbul, Türkiye's financial and cultural hub.

Through its new network, dubbed the Panda Route, Sichuan Airlines aims to offer more travelers the opportunity to explore China's culture.

The Panda Route is described as a "multi-layered, high frequency, and highly convenient international network system."

The airline also unveiled its A350 wide-body aircraft, which will be operational on this network.

Shi Zuyi, chairman of Sichuan Airlines Group, stated that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has strengthened the connection between China and Türkiye.

Addressing guests at the event, Shi said that the increasing number of direct flights between the two countries has led to a rise in mutual visits and the emergence of new areas of cooperation.

Ismail Butun, general manager at the Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency, noted that expanding flight routes plays a vital role in Türkiye's goal of attracting one million Chinese tourists annually.

Selahattin Bilgen, CEO of Istanbul Airport, said that new routes and increased flight schedules will make Türkiye more accessible to Chinese guests.

For his part, Wu Jian, China's deputy consul general in Istanbul, highlighted at the event the steady development of bilateral relations across a wide range of fields, including tourism.
