Park rangers tranquilised a mother bear to free her trapped cub in Colorado.

Footage shows parks and wildlife officers shooting the parent with a sedative as she clung to a tree in Evergreen as she was prevent them from coming near her baby on June 3.

When she was asleep, the park rangers began the rescue operation to release the juvenile who was stuck in the gnarled wire fence.

The baby bear resisted and when it was freed, they let it return to its mum with the help of K9 Officer Samson's German Shepherd pooch that barked to guide it away.
