A helicopter crashed in a Brazilian forest, killing all three people on board.

The Robinson R44 Raven II, registered PS-GJS, went down in the Guaratiba neighbourhood of Rio de Janeiro on Saturday at 9:55 am local time.

Footage shows first responders at the scene with the wreckage scattered across the wooded area.

Local media reported the chopper had departed from Recreio and made a stop in Sepetiba to change pilots before the crash.

A report from the Aviation Safety Network stated: 'A Robinson R44 Raven II crashed under unknown circumstances in a forest near Guaratiba, Rio de Janeiro. The three occupants perished, and the helicopter was destroyed.'

Authorities have opened an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
