Edwin Chabari, Kakuma refugee camp manager, said that Kenya observed the day by reaffirming the country's continuous open-door policy towards refugees by committing to implement policies that are compliant with international conventions.

"Most of those things will be provided because we are saying that the children of both the refugees and members of the host community will be able to do most of the activities together. They will be able to go to the same schools; they will be able to access the same markets; they will be able to access most of all these activities together."
Kenya has hosted an estimated 775,000 refugees and asylum seekers from over 20 countries, according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
