Storyline:
The World Food Program (WFP) has issued an urgent call for increased funding to maintain its life-saving operations in Dadaab, one of the world's largest refugee camps.

The UN agency has expressed deep concern over diminishing global resources, noting a widening funding gap that severely impacts the lives and livelihoods of refugees worldwide. In response to this crisis, the WFP has been forced to make difficult decisions.

For instance, in Dadaab camp located in northeastern Kenya, food rations have already been slashed by up to 40%.

Home to over 300,000 refugees, primarily from Somalia, Dadaab relies heavily on humanitarian aid for survival. Officials emphasize that the need has grown as more people seek assistance.

Sophie Wanyonyi, a WFP Supply Chain Manager at the camp, highlighted the critical nature of the situation.

WFP has underscored that the dwindling resources constitute not just a financial deficit but a humanitarian emergency with no clear end in sight.

A significant concern in Dadaab is the nutritional status of refugees, particularly children. While some donor countries have pledged additional support, many contributions fall short of escalating needs.

While the WFP has secured assistance from the donor community until September, officials warn that the risk of the food supply running out remains high without additional funding.
