STORYLINE:
In Gaza, the relentless cycle of displacement has shattered the dreams of many, forcing millions to repeatedly uproot their lives in the wake of Israeli offensives that have scarred every corner of the densely populated enclave.
SOUNDBITE 1 (Arabic): OM MOHAMMED, Displaced Palestinian
"In the past, the war would last for days and then end. But now we have been suffering from the war for months without a home and living in a tent and in a difficult situation."
SOUNDBITE 2 (Arabic): MASADA AL-HAMZAWI, Displaced Palestinian
"Our life before the war was not easy, but we dealt with it and lived well as I used to go to work. Electricity indeed came for hours a day, but there were alternatives and water was available. But life after the war became very difficult. I was displaced for several times and when I came from Rafah to Deir al-Balah, we began to suffer from everything in light of the lack of the necessities of life, especially in light of the difficult siege that we are currently suffering from. I appealed to the United Nations and the world to give pressure to Israel to stop the war, stop the massacres and the difficult life we are living."
SOUNDBITE 3 (Arabic): HALIMA AHMED, Displaced Palestinian
"We used to live in our home, but now we live in the remains of the house as the war is everywhere. When the house was targeted, we were sleeping, but thank God we survived. Currently, the house is very bad and does not have any necessities of life."
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) estimated that about 1.7 million Palestinians, about 75 percent of Gaza's total population, are now displaced in areas like Khan Younis and central Gaza, with many of them experiencing displacement multiple times.
