Epic Acatenango journey: 26 hours, 16,000ft elevation change

Instagram user 'trev__travels' documented an incredible 26-hour trek on Volcán de Acatenango. The journey covered 13 miles with a total elevation change of 16,000 feet, reaching a maximum elevation of 13,040 feet.

Starting at 9 a.m. at 7,900 feet, Trev reached base camp at 12,000 feet by 4 p.m. At 5:30 p.m., he headed to Volcán de Fuego, arriving at the viewpoint by 7:45 p.m. After returning to base camp at 11:30 p.m., he woke at 4 a.m. to summit Acatenango, reaching the peak by 4:45 a.m.

Trev completed the descent by 11 a.m., calling it the coolest adventure of his life and expressing gratitude for everyone involved.
