On July 15, 2024, Mandaue City, Philippines, faced severe flooding as the Butuanon River overflowed due to heavy rains in nearby mountainous areas. A video shared by Lane Nawanao depicted residents wading through shoulder-high floodwaters with floaters, illustrating the extent of the crisis. Approximately 352 families, totaling 1,405 individuals, were affected across three barangays in the city. The local government and emergency services mobilized to assist those displaced.
