It has been a long and very hot summer in Maryland indeed. After weeks of brutal heat and heat indices reaching 110 degrees and higher, the heatwave finally broke in Easton, Maryland around 8:30pm on Wednesday July 17, 2024. A severe thunderstorm warning was issued by the National Weather Service for Talbot County, as a line of storms with dangerous prolonged lightning crossed over Easton. As the storms progressed east toward Federalsburg, Seaford, and the Delaware Beaches, more warnings were issued and the lightning was prolific even up to 40 miles away.
