Alpine County, CA, USA - July 12, 2024

A challenging search and rescue mission unfolded in Alpine County as emergency responders mobilized to aid a climber stranded atop a pinnacle rock at 10,000 feet above sea level. The incident, prompted by the climber becoming "cliffed-out," was compounded by thunderstorms and severe wind conditions.

At approximately 1600 hours, H-24 was called upon to assist, swiftly locating the stranded party amid adverse weather conditions. El Dorado County Fire's High-Rescue Team (HRT) was promptly inserted into the scene, initiating a meticulous extrication operation. The climber, fortunately uninjured, was safely transported via helicopter to a nearby landing zone, where deputies awaited.
