United States: Bald Eagle Rescued and Treated at ARK in Mason County
Mason County, MI, USA - July 18, 2024
A young bald eagle, injured after being struck by a vehicle, was rescued and received critical care at the ARK facility in St. Helen, Michigan. Deputies from the Mason County Sheriff's Office, alongside a conservation officer from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, worked tirelessly to save the majestic bird.
The incident unfolded on July 18, 2024, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement and wildlife officials. K9 deputy Baum, a retired sergeant major in the United States Marine Corps, played a pivotal role in the rescue, using a Harley Davidson blanket as a symbol of American freedom to comfort the eagle.
Initial assessments at ARK indicated that while the eagle did not have any broken bones, there was concern about a possible shoulder injury. Despite this, there is optimism that once the comprehensive assessment is complete, the eagle can be safely released back into its natural habitat.
