A Thai man charmed two wild birds by playing a lullaby in his kalimba.

Tuck Phucha said the wild pittas often visited his window where he leaves food for them and they have grown comfortable with him being around.

Footage shows Phucha plucking the keys in the thumb piano to make the mesmerising melody on July 22 in Nan province, Thailand.

The birds looked calm, observing around the room as he made music with the small African instrument.

He said: ‘The birds listened to my music. I felt like they were my babies since I gave them food when they were younger.'

Blue-winged pittas are brightly coloured birds found in Southeast Asia, known for their black heads, blue wings, green backs, and red bellies.

They inhabit tropical and subtropical forests, feeding on insects and small invertebrates on the forest floor. Despite being listed as 'Least Concern' on the IUCN Red List, habitat loss due to deforestation threatens their population.
