Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Indonesian Police, Police Commissioner Bayu Suseno, stated that the police will soon issue a death notification for Pilot Glenn Malcolm Conning. This is important because the victim is a foreign national.

"We from the police, in this case, the Peace Operation Task Force Cartenz, are cooperating with the Papua Regional Police to promptly arrange the death notification. This is important to do since the victim is a foreign citizen," said Bayu Suseno.

Furthermore, Bayu stated that the death notification for the victim will be sent to the International Relations Division of the National Police Headquarters and subsequently sent to the Embassy of New Zealand in Jakarta.

"And later, the death notification will be sent to the International Relations Division of the National Police Headquarters and will then be forwarded to the Embassy of New Zealand in Jakarta," said Bayu.

Meanwhile, Indonesian security forces from the Indonesian National Armed Forces and Indonesian National Police have been deployed to pursue the perpetrators of the murder of helicopter pilot Glenn Malcolm Conning.

"We from the Peace Operation Task Force Cartenz have deployed 4 combined teams of TNI and Polri to the Alama District, Mimika Regency, to conduct searches and pursuits of the perpetrators of the kidnapping and murder of the New Zealand pilot that occurred on Monday, August 6, 2024," he concluded.

Previously, it was reported that Glenn Malcolm Conning, a helicopter pilot serving isolated areas in the interior of Indonesia, specifically in Papua Province, became a victim of a heinous murder carried out by an armed criminal group in Alama District, Mimika Regency, Central Papua Province.

The incident occurred while Glenn was flying to the area to transport 4 medical personnel who would work to provide health services to the residents of the district on Monday, August 5, 2024. In addition to the 4 medical personnel, there was also a baby and a child.

When the helicopter landed at the airport in that district, an armed criminal group claiming to be the West Papua National Liberation Army suddenly attacked using firearms.

The West Papua National Liberation Army, the armed wing of the Free Papua Organization, claimed responsibility for this incident.

The actions taken by the group are brutal and have made it difficult for the residents of Alama District to obtain food supplies and health facilities because air access has been temporarily suspended by all airlines in the area.

Until now, the body of pilot Glenn Malcolm Conning is still being laid to rest at the local hospital.

The plan is for the body to be sent back to his home country in New Zealand via Jakarta on Wednesday, August 7, 2024.
