This is the moment a Porsche hits a man on a scooter before smashing into a tree and bursting into flames, killing its driver.

The footage, captured in Zhoushan, in Zhejiang Province, China, at around 11 am on August 13, shows the white sports car smashing into the bike and hitting the tree.

It immediately bursts into flames, with other images showing the electric scooter rider lying on the road after being hit.

Local media reported that the owner of the vehicle, who has been named only as a man called Tang, from Hubei, had been driving it at the time and died at the scene.

The scooter rider, named Hu, from Zhoushan, suffered light injuries, according to local media reports.

Other footage shows the car as nothing more than a smouldering wreck after the firefighters managed to put the fire out.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
