Policeman catches alligator loitering on family's doorstep in Texas
Footage shows a policeman handling an alligator found on a family's doorstep in Texas.
Police Department Lieutenant Bill Henry dealt with two alligator encounters on August 23.
The first incident occurred early in the morning when Lt. Henry responded to a report of an alligator near a backyard fence.
He said: 'We used a pole on that one because he was kind of hidden in the vegetation.'
Three hours later, he was called to a resident's front door, where an alligator was found next to an Amazon delivery.
The police officer added: 'The alligator was relatively small. I felt pretty comfortable, so I walked up there and just grabbed him.
'We have so many gators out here that it's become part of our training regimen.'
Both alligators were safely relocated to larger bodies of water.
Police noted that such encounters are common in Fulshear, leading to specialized training for police recruits.
American alligators can grow up to 13 to 15 feet long and are primarily found in the southeastern United States. Despite their fearsome appearance, they play a crucial role in their ecosystem by controlling fish populations and creating habitats for other wildlife.
