Tongliao, China - August 23, 2024

In a harrowing incident that unfolded during heavy rainfall, a private car was swept into a riverbed in Tongliao, Inner Mongolia, leaving a mother and her daughter clinging to a power line pole for survival. The dramatic rescue, captured in the hearts of many, showcased the bravery of the Inner Mongolia Fire Service.

The incident occurred when torrential rains caused significant flooding on local roads, leading to the vehicle being carried away by the rushing waters. Upon receiving the emergency call, firefighters from the Inner Mongolia Fire Service rushed to the scene, where they found the river flowing dangerously fast.

The mother and daughter had managed to escape the submerged vehicle but found themselves stranded, desperately holding onto a leaning power line pole amidst the raging waters. The urgency of the situation was palpable as the firefighters quickly organized a rescue using ropes.

One poignant moment that touched onlookers was when the mother, in an attempt to save her daughter, instructed her to step on her hands to reach safety, a selfless act that moved many to tears. Firefighters, navigating the treacherous current, first secured the child, carefully carrying her to the riverbank. With the child safe, they returned to assist the mother, who was by then exhausted but relieved.
