STORYLINE:
The China-Indonesia joint research laboratory for new energy materials and metallurgical engineering technology was launched in Bandung, Indonesia, on Wednesday.
The laboratory was co-established by China's Central South University, GEM Co., Ltd., a leading green enterprise in China, and Bandung Institute of Technology.
GEM Chairman Xu Kaihua stated that the laboratory will facilitate research on key technologies for the utilization of various mineral resources, new energy materials, and green recycling.
He emphasized that it represents a significant opportunity for Indonesia to achieve self-reliance in key technologies and serves as a bridge between Indonesia's rich mineral resources and advanced technology from China.
Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, said that the laboratory could elevate Indonesia to become a global center for research on new energy materials.
