STORYLINE:
The second Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF), organized by the Indonesian government, was held in Bali from Sept. 1-3. Bali's streets were lined with Wuling electric vehicles (EVs).
Wuling supplied 158 EVs, including 100 Wuling Binguo and 58 Wuling CloudEV models, to transport IAF delegates from 52 countries. This partnership highlights Wuling's commitment to Indonesia's green transportation initiatives and the development of the local EV industry.
To ensure the smooth operation of the vehicles during the forum, Wuling set up charging facilities at the parking center and provided 24-hour maintenance services staffed by 52 team members.
Eka Danny Manjur, head of the General Bureau of the Ministry of State Secretariat, expressed optimism for continued collaboration with Wuling. "We hope that Wuling can continue to work with the Indonesian government for future international activities, supporting transformation to environmentally friendly transportation technology in Indonesia," said Manjur.
Notably, the two models used at the forum were manufactured at Wuling's factory in Cikarang, Indonesia. To be in line with the Indonesian government's requirements, more than 40 percent of components are made locally.
Liu Yan, marketing director of Wuling Motors, told Xinhua on Sunday in Bali that the company has built a robust presence in Indonesia since entering the market in 2017.
SOUNDBITE (Chinese): LIU YAN, Marketing Director of Wuling Motors
"Starting with the G20 in 2022, this is the sixth time we have supported the Indonesian government in hosting high-level diplomatic events by providing official government vehicles. Our primary goal is to respond to the Indonesian government's vision of shaping a clean and bright future by providing environmentally friendly, safe, and efficient transportation options for the people of Indonesia. Secondly, we aim to support the Indonesian government's call to accelerate the establishment of an electric vehicle industry chain, encouraging more Chinese automakers and new energy companies to invest in Indonesia, making electric vehicles more accessible to Indonesian consumers."
