STORYLINE:
An object containing explosives was discovered off the Black Sea coast of Istanbul, Türkiye's largest city, the NTV broadcaster reported on Friday.
The report said that on Thursday evening, a fisherman spotted a large iron object floating in the sea near the Arnavutkoy district on the European side of the city.
After securing the object to his boat and bringing it ashore, the fisherman discovered explosives attached to the iron piece.
Following his tip-off, gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene. They evacuated nearby residents and restaurants and implemented security measures.
After hours of effort, the teams successfully removed the explosives from the object, which was transported for further examination, it added.
