The animal, commonly found living across East Asia and a close relative of foxes known for its raccoon-like features, had come across a wildlife camera set up in the Nizhnesvirsky Nature Reserve in Leningrad Oblast, Russia, on September 5.

Intrigued by the discovery, it was filmed as it moved closer to the device and began sniffing it, trying to figure out what it was. Then, as the footage shows, comes a bizarre moment where a lightbulb seems to go off in its tiny head and it starts to giggle.

Acting as if it realises it is being recorded, it then scampers into the darkness still making the peculiar laughter-like sound as though it has some devious plot.
