SOUNDBITE (English): HARLEY SEYEDIN, President, American Chamber of Commerce in South China
"American Chamber of Commerce in South China has brought delegations here for the last 20 years. And of course, this year, we're bringing the delegation of about 30 companies. Over the last 20 years, our delegations have averaged 1 to 2 billion dollars each year in new contract signings. And we expect this year to be as good as last year because our aim is investing in China for the future.
There are many new opportunities in China, as China is moving into the digital world, digital currency, new finance, digital finance, AI development, and many other areas that actually are offering new areas of investment, new areas of opportunities that we are very focused on. China is in a transition from a low-tech economy to a high-tech economy. We want to be a part of China's development.
China continued to grow for 40 years. We always invest in the future of China. We have always done that. Of course, we always reinvest in smaller amounts to maintain the business that we have. Our studies showed that 80 percent of members of the American Chamber of Commerce in South China reinvested last year to expand their existing businesses. Our members have in-cash reserves of over 10 billion U.S. dollars to reinvest in the next 3 to 5 years in the future of China. So absolutely, our view for China's growth and development is positive."
