This is the miraculous moment a skilful bus driver saves 45 passengers by manoeuvring to a safety road when the vehicle's brakes fail.

The incident took place on the road to Parana, Brazil on September 7.

Surveillance camera footage shows a bus speeding down the road after the brakes failed and skillfully passing a truck.

The expert driver then squeezes between two trucks to reach an emergency escape ramp designed specifically for vehicles with failed brakes.

The bus brakes sharply on a special lane filled with sand with strong jolts so that its doors open.

In the end, the plan worked and the bus with 45 passengers stopped safely.

Local media reported that the bus hit two cars before stopping, and only one passenger suffered minor injuries.

Joao de Deus Siqueira, the driver of the bus, learned from the tour guide about the safety ramp on BR-277, between Curitiba and Morretes, which helped stop the vehicle after a brake failure.

He told local media: 'I asked God to help me stop that bus because I knew that otherwise, we were all going to die. And He, as always, helped me.'
