Doctor attacked for ordering patient's family to remove their shoes in ward
This is the shocking moment chaos erupted in a hospital ward when a patient's family attacked a doctor - who ordered them to remove their shoes.
CCTV footage shows the physician, Dr Jaideepsinh Gohil, wearing a green shirt, entering the room and asking a man and his relatives to remove their footwear as part of hospital cleanliness rules.
There was a brief argument before the woman's son, wearing a white and black patterned shirt, attacked the doctor. He was set upon by the others and pinned to the ground while being kicked and punched.
Just as the doctor was about to retaliate with a steel stool, the patient - who was being treated for a head injury - held him back. Staff eventually arrived to calm the group down.
They also reportedly damaged medical equipment and threatened his life during the clash in Sihor, Bhavnagar, on September 12.
Police said the suspects - Hiren Dangar, Bhavdeep Dangar, and Kaushik Kuvadiya - had been detained under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for intentionally causing harm, insulting with intent to provoke a breach of peace, criminal intimidation, and other relevant provisions.
This incident comes amidst a national outcry following the recent assault and killing of a resident physician at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, highlighting the urgent need for greater protection and respect for healthcare professionals.
