Mysuru, India - September 20, 2024

In a shocking incident in southern India's Karnataka, two elephants engaged in a heated fight during dinner, causing panic at the Mysuru Palace.

The incident took place in Mysuru district on September 20.

Visuals showed two elephants running around the palace premises late at night. One elephant with a mahout was seen chasing another, while the chased elephant broke iron barricades and ran onto the busy main road. The sight of the massive animals prompted fear and alarm among the onlookers.

According to reports, two Dasara elephants, Dhananjaya and Kanjan, got into a minor altercation while having food. Dhananjaya chased Kanjan, who fled without his mahout, breaking through steel barricades and escaping near the Mysuru-Nanjangud road at the Jayamarthanda gate of the palace. People scattered in panic to avoid the elephants. The mahout of Dhananjaya eventually pacified him, and both elephants were safely returned to the camp by their respective mahouts and forest officials.
