Farmers in India use firecrackers and shouting to drive off elephants eating up their crops
Panic gripped locals in southern India's Tamil Nadu state after a herd of five wild elephants entered an agricultural land, destroyed crops and damaged an electric pole.
The giant animals were later chased away by the villagers and forest officials.
The incident took place in Mettur of Salem district on June 11.
The video shows the elephants running around the planted farmland, as several people along with forest officials try to chase the animals away by using fireworks.
Several villagers also gathered to get a glimpse of the wild elephants.
According to the reports, the elephants went on a rampage in the agricultural fields.
Watermelons, pumpkins and crops were destroyed as the elephants entered the orchard.
