Campo Grande, State of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil - September 28, 2024

This is the moment a burly police officer carefully holds a tiny fawn and feeds the rescued baby milk using a syringe.

The baby deer was rescued by the Military Environmental Police (PMA) in a sugarcane plantation, about 20 km from Costa Rica , in the north of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil on 28th September.
The defenceless baby calls for its mother but does eventually take some milk from the syringe in the hands of the police officer.
Its back leg can be seen bandaged.

The animal was found with a fractured left paw and showed signs of exhaustion.

At the scene, the police provided first aid and then took the animal to a local veterinary clinic, where it received initial care, including medication and food.

After emergency care, the cub was transported to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center (CRAS), in Campo Grande, where it will receive specialized treatment for a speedy recovery.
