Russia: National Park Camera Trap Shows Why Baby Saigas Should Not Relax As Wolves Are Always Nearby
Republic of Kalmykia, Russia - September 17, 2024
This is the moment when playful baby saigas enjoy a sunny day frolicking and jumping but have to be careful as predatory wolves are spotted at the same place at night.
Wildlife footage captured at the Chyornye Zemli ('Black Lands') Nature Reserve in the Republic of Kalmykia, Russia, shows several representatives of the national park's herbivorous and carnivorous inhabitants at different times of the day and night on 17th September.
At the beginning of the video, a family of saigas with two small baby saigas can be seen nibbling on the grass.
One of the baby saigas can be seen enjoying the last warm days, jumping, running in different directions and playfully annoying its sibling.
Then the footage changes to the dark time of day, and predators such as wolves and steppe cats can be seen.
Further, a charming family of saigas relaxing and sunbathing, with one of them looking at the camera trap, can be seen again in the same place on a sunny day.
However, national park representatives warn that they need to be on the alert because of wolves walking nearby.
