GARREN CREEK, N.C. - In the aftermath of the devastating Hurricane Helene, soldiers from the 2nd Battalion, 502nd Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division have emerged as beacons of hope for the residents of Garren Creek, North Carolina. On October 7, 2024, these soldiers undertook a critical mission to deliver essential supplies to an area crippled by the storm's fury.

Hurricane Helene left a trail of unprecedented destruction across Garren Creek, rendering many roads impassable except to light vehicles, isolating residents from critical aid. Stepping into this breach, the soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division's 502nd Regiment sprang into action, deploying to the area with truckloads of food, water, and other necessities.

The operation was not without its challenges. With infrastructure severely compromised, these soldiers navigated through the debris-strewn landscape to reach the heart of the affected zone. Their arrival was met with relief and gratitude by the local community, many of whom had been without basic supplies since the hurricane struck.
