STORYLINE:
The Tunisian Foreign Ministry and the Chinese Embassy in Tunisia jointly held Wednesday a seminar in Tunis.
The theme is about China and Africa's opportunities and prospects for a community with a shared future for all times in the new era.
China is a faithful partner of Tunisia, and other African countries. China and Tunisia have established long-term cooperative ties based on mutual respect and mutual benefit. The cooperation between the two sides covers infrastructure, health care, education, sports, high-tech and other fields, the Tunisian Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Ben Ayed said at the seminar.
"Tunisia is confident that the cooperation between China and Tunisia will move towards a better future, the Tunisian government is willing to continue its efforts to consolidate its partnership with China," Ayed added.
Now, China is the largest investor in Africa among developing countries, with a total direct investment of more than 40 billion U.S. dollars by the end of 2023. China-Africa trade volume reached 282.1 billion U.S. dollars in 2023, maintaining its position as Africa's largest trading partner for 15 consecutive years, said Wan Li, the Chinese Ambassador to Tunisia.
"It is opportune to hold the seminar here to review the achievements of China-Africa cooperation and look ahead to the future of China-Africa relations, as China has proposed to implement the Ten Partnership Actions for China and Africa to promote modernization in the following three years," Wan added.
Wan stressed that China and Africa play a core role in promoting an equal and orderly multipolar world, and shoulder a strategic mission in an inclusive economic globalization.
Officials, experts and scholars from Tunisia, China, Algeria, Morocco and other countries attended the seminar. The scholars also discussed other topics, such as the opportunities for China-Africa cooperation, and the prospects for cooperation with countries in the global South.
