Ambassadors to China attending a forum in China's Shanxi called for closer cooperation between countries in tackling the challenges brought by climate change.

They expressed the views during the 2023 Taiyuan Energy Low Carbon Development Forum, which is held from Sept. 6 to 8 in Taiyuan City, north China's Shanxi Province.

SOUNDBITE 1 (English): ADEL ELARBI, Ambassador of Tunisia to China
"The climate change nowadays is affecting all the sectors. We are speaking about energy crisis, and some countries are speaking about energy sovereignty. So that's why every sector is connected with the reduction of emissions."

SOUNDBITE 2 (English): ADEL ELARBI, Ambassador of Tunisia to China
"I think this is a global problem, the climate change. So we should find international and multilateral cooperation solutions."

SOUNDBITE 3 (English): MICHAEL CAMPBELL, Ambassador of Nicaragua to China
"I think the initiatives such as the Belt and Road (Initiative) that allow us to cooperate, to collaborate, to share technologies, to share experiences and best practices are the way forward. We should continue to promote greater openness."

SOUNDBITE 4 (English): THORIR IBSEN, Ambassador of Iceland to China
"Commitments of China to reducing its carbon emissions are very important. And I'm quite confident that China will reach its goal in 2060. We need more and stronger commitments of all the countries in the world."
