Every four years in the Loreto governing region of the Peruvian Amazon, a political election unfolds. In this video, we watch candidates share their proposals to a community who is heavily impacted by the forces of nature.

Filmed by Noah Beilin, age 29 (27 at the time), and his local friend, Carlos Marichi (33 at the time). Candidates in video are René Chávez, Valdimir Chong, and Ceasar Vidaurre.

Filmed in the community of Belén in Iquitos, Peru. Belen is one of the poorest communities in Peru, and perhaps South America.

Captured in the month of October, 2022.

Shot using a Lumix GH5.

Candidates from different political parties visit various communities within the greater Loreto region for the elections. Belén in particular, is one of the most sensitive communities when it comes to facing issues relating to environmental factors.
