A massive highway project is scheduled to be built in the Amazon Rainforest in order to help connect communities between Peru and as far as Colombia. This project threatens the rainforest and the immense biodiversity within it. As of now, the project has been at a stand still though due to mismanagement.

In this video, we capture glimpses of the construction, and its current use in the region.

Locals in this region desperately need new infrastructure in order to provide a more stable means to transport themselves through out the Amazon Basin. This would also open up economic trade in the region. As of now, the locals rely heavily on the Amazon's rivers to travel far distances. Due to fluctuating water levels through out the year, and climate change, these traditional routes are now becoming even less reliable and more unpredictable.
