Whipped cream bottle explodes in cafe in Thailand
This is the shocking moment a whipped cream dispenser exploded in the hands of a barista at a cafe.
Footage shows the worker shaking the pressurised canister behind the counter when it blasted and flew into the wall in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand, on October 12.
The employee was seen tightening the plastic cap and then giving the container a shake but stopped upon hearing a whizzing sound. The lid burst open seconds later and she was covered in milk.
She backed away and was shocked as the metal part of the dispenser struck the wall.
The cafe owner said: 'She filled the canister with cream and heard a gas leak. We think it was because the cap was not tightened properly.'
No one was hurt, and the cafe wall was only minimally damaged from the blast.
In 2017, an exploding cream dispenser killed French lifestyle figure Rebecca Burger when the metal canister struck her in the chest. Rebecca died of cardiac arrest after the incident.
Cream dispenser canisters are often powered by nitrous oxide cartridges, which pressurize the liquid cream to create a whipped texture when released. If the canister is defective or improperly used, the high pressure can cause it to explode.
