The ordeal began at 8:18 a.m. when emergency services were alerted to the dog's plight. The Rottweiler, in pursuit of waterfowl, had ventured too far from the shore and began struggling to swim back. Its owner bravely attempted a rescue but was forced back to land due to the bitterly cold water.

The scene was one of tense action as two boats from Wellesley College were launched into the lake. The police, employing their drone to monitor the situation, provided crucial aerial guidance to the rescuers.
