Mum crafts elaborate Halloween costume and dresses up as Roz from Monsters, Inc.
A mum took her Halloween costume to the next level as she dressed up as Roz from Monsters, Inc.
Sierra Larson, 30, has been competing in her office costume contest since 2016, each year raising the stakes to outdo herself.
It took Sierra an entire month to perfect her Roz costume, crafting everything from the character's face to her signature cardigan.
To create Roz's distinctive facial features, Sierra watched YouTube tutorials and improvised with everyday materials.
She bought a
mannequin head and added four pounds of clay to shape the face and then coated it with liquid latex mixed with flour to get the right texture.
She also crafted Roz's hairstyle, attaching a piece of foam shaped like a triangle and covering it with crepe hair to resemble the character's signature updo.
Sierra's mom assisted in sewing the bodysuit, which they stuffed for Roz's round shape and topped off with a cardigan to complete the look.
Sierra, office manager from Mesa, Arizona, USA, said: "At that stage, I was in full"
mom mode,
watching her every second.
"So dressing up as Roz, who's always watching Mike, and making my daughter Mike Wazowski felt like a perfect fit."
The elaborate costume cost just under £154 ($200).
She said: "The most expensive part was the fabric for the body - that alone was nearly £77 ($100)."
"But I managed to keep the total cost under £154 ($200) by doing almost everything myself."
Sierra created the costume for her office's 2022 Halloween costume competition.
She said: "It was my most restrictive costume yet — hard to talk, breathe, everything."
"But everyone loved it, which made it all worth it."
This year, Sierra is planning another elaborate costume and will be the Cat in the Hat with her kids Star, three, and Steele, one, as Thing 1 and Thing 2.
She said: "It's a fun way to include my kids and it really captures my life right now - balancing motherhood, work, and everything else."
"I've built a reputation for going all out, so now everyone expects it."
"But it's worth every minute for the laughs and reactions I get from everyone."
