Kind drivers climbed out of their cars with bottles of drinking water to help douse flames from a burning motorcycle.

The vehicles were stuck in traffic when the two-wheeler's engine caught fire and began emitting smoke in Kanchanaburi, western Thailand, on October 27.

Footage shows the motorists pouring water onto the overheating motorbike. Its owner tried to extinguish it with a bucket but to no avail.

More drivers rushed to help with water bottles before nearby shop assistants arrived with an extinguisher.

The motorcycle was then pulled to the side to ease traffic, and the flow returned to normal.

Locals praised the Good Samaritan for helping a fellow road user in their hour of need and potentially avoiding a more severe vehicle fire.
